BEN ALFORD CHURCH LEADER SCHOLARSHIPS worth more than $100,000, awarded to two United Methodist high school seniors who have been leaders in their churches.

THE CHURCH PARTNER PLAN is an intentional covenant relationship where local churches partner with Martin Methodist College to enhance our shared ministries.

A MARTIN REPRESENTATIVE identified in each local United Methodist congregation of the Tennessee Conference to serve as a liaison with Martin Methodist College.

Guidelines are as follows for the Wayne Lentz Scholarship

for year 2008:

1. Scholarships to Bedford County High School Seniors:

a. Who are a member of one of the United Methodist Churches in Bedford County.

b. Who will graduate and enroll in a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university (if possible, going into a music field)

c. Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church high school seniors will take priority over other high school seniors if there is a graduating senior from Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

d. This scholarship is based on the need and academic performance of the student (but Pleasant Grove feels those students who will receive a full academic scholarship or students with poor grades do not need this scholarship).

e. Scholarship applications will be available at all Bedford County High Schools. (Shelbyville Central, Cascade, Community, Webb)

 

2. Amount of scholarship is (2) $1,500 scholarships, divided equally between the 1st  and 2nd semesters of their freshmen year.

 

3. All scholarship applications will be judged by the Scholarship Committee and the 2 winners will be chosen by the Committee. The Scholarship Committee will send representatives to the high school(s) for Senior Day to present the winners with their scholarships.

 

4. Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will fund and be responsible for sending the checks to the scholarship winners' college or university.

 

Pleasant Grove Church will administer/oversee the Wayne Lentz Memorial Scholarship.
